BBIS Foundation "Role Model Talk" with Olaf Scholz

One of three student moderators for a live interview with Germany's ninth Federal Chancellor, in front of grades 8 through 12, parents, staff and the Kleinmachnow community.

Each moderator question opened with a page from Dave Eggers' picture book What Can a Citizen Do? Mine followed the line "A citizen can write a letter. A citizen can help change laws," which assumes citizens form their views freely before they act on them. I asked Scholz whether that assumption still holds, citing research from the 2025 federal election showing a new TikTok account was served AfD content within 11 minutes while SPD content took over an hour, and that the AfD vote among under-25s had tripled. The question was who is accountable when an algorithm decides what a generation believes before it has had the chance to think for itself.

I also noticed he approached each question with a slight angle rather than head-on. He named polarization and the bubbles social media builds, but not who should answer for them.

At lunch afterwards he was a different register entirely: unhurried, funny, and genuinely curious about what it's like to grow up as an international student in a country that isn't quite yours.

GSI Foundation: Outreach & Policy Team

Worked on the Global Solutions Initiative's outreach and policy teams ahead of the Global Solutions Summit 2026, part of the G20 and G7's official think-tank engagement groups, T20 and T7. Helped run the Summit's operational side: speaker coordination, strategic outreach, and communications for a convening of 500+ participants, including G20 sherpas and advisors.

For the GSI Fellows Network, drafted seasonal newsletters and curated stocktakes and recommendations for a global community of practitioners across multilateralism, digital governance, and climate finance. Also helped redesign and redraft the GSI digital policy webpage, and wrote a blog post due to publish on the GSI site.

Global Solutions Summit 2026

Attended as GSI staff. The Summit is the flagship event of the G20 think-tank process: policymakers, academics, and civil society presenting recommendations to G20 working groups. What the Summit makes visible, for anyone paying attention, is the gap between the quality of the recommendations produced and the thinness of the mechanisms that are supposed to carry them into implementation. That gap is the thing I kept noticing.

BBIS Climate Summit 2026

Organized and co-moderated a 100-person summit at Berlin Brandenburg International School, structured around one question: why does the gap between climate finance commitments and actual capital deployment persist, and what would it take to close it?

Four expert panelists. Prepared discussion briefs and moderated structured Q&A across two sessions. Produced a formal summit report summarizing findings and areas of divergence among panelists. The summit format was deliberately designed to surface disagreement instead of manufacturing consensus, aiming for a clear map of where the real disputes lie.

Model United Nations

Seven conferences across four years, three of them in the Security Council, representing the United States twice, South Africa twice, Russia, Luxembourg, and Pakistan at different tables. The range of positions is the point: defending a permanent member's veto logic one year, arguing the case of a smaller state with far less leverage the next. At NHSMUN in the UNGA, New York 2023, I was the youngest delegate among thousands from around the world, the largest conference of its kind at the time. That mostly meant I had to be more prepared than anyone else.

The other half of it: I've been leading my school's MUN club as President since ninth grade. Organizing the conferences, writing the new curriculum, preparing delegates who've never touched a resolution, and even coaching ones older than me. Teaching is where the gaps in your own understanding show up fastest.

World Economics Cup

After a summer of frantic Zoom calls and timezone coordination, our Thinking & Innovation Video along with our Fundamentals and Deep Comprehension exam performances led us to becoming European Champions in the Continental Round of the World Economics Cup, with an Individual Gold Medal for me in Fundamentals. Following a strong performance in the World Finals collaborative essay round, our team finished 8th in the world out of 248 teams.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

A multi-day expedition: kayaking, trekking, navigating with paper maps, carrying everything. At some point the kayak capsized in a moving river. We ran out of water before reaching the halfway point of the day. A thunderstorm came in overnight and nearly flooded the tents. None of that was in the plan.

The leadership piece isn't the hike. It's the decisions you make when things have already gone wrong and everyone is tired, including you. The policies I research are only useful if someone can implement them on the ground under imperfect conditions. This is what imperfect conditions actually feel like.

US Embassy Berlin-Brandenburg Youth Advisory Council

Youth adviser, 2026–27 cycle. The council advises the US Embassy on bilateral US–Germany policy engagement, cultural diplomacy, and public outreach priorities relevant to the Berlin-Brandenburg region. The role sits at the intersection of the two countries I've lived in; the cross-cultural fluency I've developed is what makes it useful rather than ceremonial.
